Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s Star One Releases The Year of ’41 Featuring Dino Jelusick

Progressive metal visionary Arjen Anthony Lucassen has unveiled the long-awaited official video for The Year of ’41, featuring powerhouse vocalist Dino Jelusick (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Whitesnake). The track, originally recorded for the 2022 Star One album Revel In Time, was left unreleased due to label issues — but now sees the light of day in full glory via Lucassen’s Star One project.

Lucassen praised Jelusick as “one of the best singers in the world right now”, highlighting his commanding, soulful performance that drives the cinematic prog-metal anthem. Inspired by the cult sci-fi film The Final Countdown, the song thrusts listeners into a time-bending narrative set in 1941 at the dawn of World War II.

Alongside Jelusick, the track boasts an impressive lineup of guest musicians:

  • Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, TSO, Cher) – guitar solo
  • Jens Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius, Rainbow) – keyboard solo
  • Ed Warby – drums
  • Irene Jansen and Marcela Bovio – backing vocals
  • Erik van Ittersum – Solina strings
  • Arjen Lucassen – all other instruments

The video, crafted by Elan Lopez and Dave Letelier, adds a dramatic visual layer to the song’s high-stakes atmosphere.
