Austrian power metal band DRAGONY have released their brand new single and lyric video, “Shadow and Flame”. The track marks a return to the band’s pop culture inspired songwriting after two albums focused on fantastical interpretations of real world history.
“Shadow and Flame” draws direct inspiration from the video game Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. To bring the concept to life, DRAGONY expanded their lineup with the addition of second lead singer Maria Nesh and enlisted guest vocals from Brittney Slayes of UNLEASH THE ARCHERS. Epic orchestrations were once again handled by Lasse Elkjear, while production duties were led by Jacob Hansen.
Vocalist Siegfried Samer explains the idea behind the track.
“As a longtime fan of the games published by Fromsoft, I of course also played Elden Ring passionately. After taking inspiration from Dark Souls and Bloodborne with previous songs, we wanted to complete the trilogy with ‘Shadow and Flame.’ Adding Maria Nesh as a full time member and having Brittney Slayes involved gave the song a very distinctive character.”

The single is accompanied by striking artwork created by Stan Decker, depicting a dark interpretation of the Scadutree from Shadow of the Erdtree alongside a fiery serpent representing the character Messmer.
