Danish thrash-death metal band HATESPHERE have unleashed “Guillotine,” the title track and first single from their upcoming 12th studio album, Guillotine, set for release on October 9, 2026 via Scarlet Records.
The new single dives into the concept of violent justice, examining how dissatisfaction with systematic and lawful justice can fuel vigilantism and increasingly violent responses, ultimately challenging personal moral convictions.
Guillotine follows the band’s acclaimed 2023 album Hatred Reborn and finds HATESPHERE venturing into darker and more atmospheric territory while maintaining the aggression, speed, melody and groove that have defined their sound.
The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio, whose extensive credits include Heaven Shall Burn, The Haunted and Dark Tranquillity. Cover artwork was created by Mikkel Rützov/Drown Design.
Lyrically, the record revolves around the forces that define humanity’s moral compass and the often-complicated distinction between good and evil. Throughout the album, HATESPHERE explore the intentions and motives behind human actions while depicting an ongoing struggle between human nature and the societal structures designed to contain it.
Ultimately, Guillotine poses a central question: when those forces collide, which will break first — the individual or society — and what consequences will follow?
Musically, HATESPHERE remain firmly committed to their uncompromising brand of old-school, in-your-face thrash-death metal, combining relentless riffs and speed with melody and crushing grooves.
