Spanish heavy metal band Whirlwind have unveiled their latest single, “Lese Majesty (Corpus de Sang)”, now streaming via the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM) YouTube channel.
The track marks the third preview from their upcoming sophomore album, 1640, set for release April 24, 2026 through Dying Victims Productions.
About 1640
Following their 2022 debut 1714, Whirlwind return with a record deeply rooted in historical and epic themes, this time centered around the Thirty Years’ War and internal struggles within Spain.
Musically, 1640 is a pure homage to ‘80s heavy metal, drawing influence from:
• Running Wild
• Helloween
• Accept
• Iron Maiden
• Judas Priest
Expect mid-tempo stompers, galloping riffs, and a production style that channels the raw authenticity of mid-’80s Teutonic metal.
The Track: “Lese Majesty (Corpus de Sang)”
The new single continues the band’s tradition of blending historical narrative with high-energy riffing, delivering a track that feels both anthemic and battle-ready—true to the NWOTHM spirit.

Originally conceived by Mark Wild (also of Körgull the Exterminator), Whirlwind began as a studio project before evolving into a full live band featuring members of Redshark.
Their debut 1714 quickly gained traction in the underground, landing them on stages alongside acts like:
• Visigoth
• Attic
• Omen
With 1640, Whirlwind double down on their mission:
No trends. No compromises. Just true heavy metal.
