Ukrainian blackened death metallers 1914 will return this Fall with their fifth studio album, Viribus Unitis, set for release on November 14, 2025 through Napalm Records. Known for their unflinching focus on the history and horrors of World War I, 1914 once again plunge listeners into the mud, blood, and iron of The Great War—this time with a powerful concept centered on the idea of unity and survival amidst chaos.
The first single, 1916 (The Südtirol Offensive), recounts the brutal Battle of Asiago during the Trentino Offensive of May-June 1916. Austro-Hungarian forces launched a massive surprise assault on Italian positions, unleashing more than 200 battalions and 2,000 guns. Despite being caught off guard, Italian troops held their ground in a campaign that cost over 230,000 lives in less than a month—a chilling reminder of the devastating cost of mountain warfare.
