Danish metallers Defecto have announced the release of their brand-new studio album, Echoes of Isolation, arriving October 31, 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl. Pre-orders are live now at ffm.to/defecto_isolation.
To introduce the record, the band has unveiled the first single and official video, Sacred Alignment, a powerful track that dives into the misunderstood reality of OCD.
“‘Sacred Alignment’ digs into the reality of OCD – a condition that is so often misunderstood. It’s not about being neat or organized; it’s about living in a prison built by your own thoughts. This song captures that battle – the brutality of the mind, and the strange balance between order and chaos,” the band explains.

Formed in Copenhagen in 2011, Defecto, Nicklas Sonne (vocals/guitar), Frederik Møller (guitar), and Thomas Bartholin (bass), have earned a reputation for their blend of technical precision, melodic strength, and emotional intensity. Their resume includes festival appearances at Copenhell and RockFest Finland, as well as support slots for Metallica and Rammstein.
With Echoes of Isolation, the band pushes further into cinematic and progressive metal territory, crafting a concept album centered on mental illness and psychological struggle. Vocalist/guitarist Nicklas Sonne explains:
“Each song inhabits a different psychological struggle — insomnia, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, paranoia, dissociation, trauma — giving voice to the war within. This isn’t just a metal album. It’s a mirror held to the mind. For us, it’s about turning pain into power, and creating something that can connect deeply with anyone who has ever felt broken, isolated, or misunderstood.”
